Questions
Mandelic is the largest of the common AHA molecules, so it moves into skin more slowly. That is why it stings less than glycolic at the same percentage, and why it is the one to start with.
At pH 3.6, part of the 10% mandelic acid is neutralized and part remains as free acid, which is the portion that exfoliates. We print both numbers so you can compare formulas honestly: 10% total, 7.4% free acid.
No. It is an evening product, on dry skin, with sunscreen the next morning.
Never on the same night, and most people pick one of the two rather than running both. If you want the stronger option later, finish the Mandelic first and see how your skin is doing.
On alternate nights, not the same night. Start with one or two acid nights a week and keep the retinol where it is. With a prescription retinoid, ask whoever prescribed it before adding any acid.
We do not give a yes or no on pregnancy, because it depends on you and not only on the formula. The published facts are mandelic acid 10%, pH 3.6, with sodium lactate, panthenol and glycerin. Please take them to your doctor or OB.
A brief tingle on application is common with acids. Burning, redness that stays, or swelling is not. If that happens, rinse it off, stop using it and write to us. If it does not settle, see a professional.

Oily, congested
I like that the carton tells me the percentage and the pH and then tells me to use it twice a week, not every night. It is the first acid I have not overdone.

Combination, deeper skin tone
Glycolic has always left marks on my skin. This is slower but it has never irritated me, and after two months my skin tone looks more even.

Normal, textured
Do not expect anything for the first three weeks. Around week five my skin texture felt smoother. Four stars because I wish I had known the timeline up front.

Oily
Twice a week for two months. The congestion on my nose and chin looks clearer and I have had no peeling.

Very sensitive
I am very sensitive and even twice a week left my cheeks pink the next day. I have dropped to once a week on my T-zone only, which is fine, but it is not the gentle everyday thing I hoped for. To be fair, the label never says everyday.

Combination
The patch test note, the dry skin note, the SPF note. I have never had a serum explain itself this well.

Oily
It is a touch tacky for a few minutes. Once the cream goes on top you cannot tell. Results are good.

Normal
My first AHA. A faint tingle for ten seconds and that is it.

Acne-prone
I broke out a little in the first two weeks and stopped. It may have settled if I had continued, but I did not want to push it. The return was simple.

Combination
10%, pH 3.6, twice a week. My skin feels smoother and nothing hurts. I respect a brand that prints the free acid value.
